Imperial ValleyIn March of 2010, I traveled to the Imperial Valley to photograph the earthquake damage to cities of Calexico and El Centro. I was struck by how poor, run down and desperate the communities appeared. I wondered what the industry was in the region and a grocery clerk replied prisons, farming and welfare. This marks the beginning of a long-term project whereby I document the effects of those industries on the landscape. Part 1: Farming                   |
